Same problem here. Also 64 bit version.
Also if you try to install the python-webkitgtk-dev package it requires
python-webkit and also fails.
Will try a fresh 32 bit install in a VM see what happens - see if this
is a 64 bit issues or both 32 and 64 bit...

Broken package: unmet dependency python-webkitgtk
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/337423
You
Trying to install python-webkitgtk-dev errors because it needs webkitgtk
which it can't install because:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python-webkitgtk: Depends: python (< 2.6) but 2.6.1-0ubuntu2 is to be
installed
E: Broken packages
Which is presumably exact what is mentione
und the world.
I'm running 64 bit Jaunty.
Cheers,
Xoke

Public bug reported:
Did jaunty -> karmic upgrade overnight. This morning the default kernel
(2.6.31-8) hangs on startup. The standard ubuntu (well Xubuntu in my

No, it's an (old) Compaq Presario Laptop, not a netbook.
/var/log/gdm does exist as a directory with a bunch of files into it,
although I don't have access to that dir (sudo does).
I can run Karmic, just not with the latest kernel so I don't think it's
a huge problem (although others may disagree
(Trying not to make this a 'me too').
Me too! Ubuntu 10.04 (upgraded from 9.10) and ktorrent hanging entire
system when checking. Happened three times today, last time I was
running nothing else (well, obviously background stuff, but no other
apps open). Had a sudden thought about disk space so
