I have testet it with the 3.14 mainstream kernel and there is no
difference there. I also don't think remembering the PIN is a kernel

a pain, by the way because the Lenovo BIOS update ISO only works on CDs
and cannot be booted from USB drives. Thus I had to install Windows to
install the update and then install Ubuntu again).
