I got it working with the following steps:
1. add "splash = y" to /etc/uswsusp.conf
2. set DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH=true in /etc/default/acpi-support
3. modify /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh to work with Feisty's uswsusp package (see
attached patch)
4. re-generate the initramfs to add modified uswsusp.c
Feisty's acpi-support package has support for uswsusp, although there's
a minor issue

the thinkpad_acpi kernel module generate an ACPI event when "echo
0x > /proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey". So, we don't need thinkpad-keys
anymore which polls nvram. we could have ACPI event scripts for this.

I packaged the nm-openswan for karmic. I had to change some code to get
it compiled. The patch is included in the diff.gz
I attach the current version if someone is interesting. A deb file for
karmic is also included.

I'm facing a problem with Quickcam Messenger (046d:08f0) under Karmic.
Two modules, gspca_stv06xx and quickcam_messenger, try to handle this
webcam.
>From my point of view, gspca_stv06xx works better (tested with Ekiga,
Skype and Cheese). The quickcam_messenger will also be removed in
2.6.32, see

The issue has two root causes:
1. the tuxoniceui_usplash needs a fix to add two fade_logo calls. This is
already fixed in the tuxonice-userui SVN.
2. the pm-utils sleep.d hook 98-smart-kernel-video disables changing the VT. To
get it work with TOI, you need to enable it by commenting out one line

Binary package hint: vlc
To enable the UPnP SD module, the build dependency to libupnp3-dev needs
to be added.
I'm right now preparing a debdiff to fix this issue with some other
missing build dependencies. As soon as I'm finished, I'll add the
debdiff here.
