Gutsy did the same to me, I haven't tested this workaround yet, I'll try

I've seen the same problem on a friend's 5102wlmi laptop, and it can be
solved like this :
1- Right click on the volume control icon
2- Mute the sound
3- Unmute the sound
Then, you have sound on both headphones. Note that you will have to do

The fonctionnality you are looking for already exists in KDE.
In the KDE control center, just go to KDE components > File manager, and there,
you will see select the option which lets you ignore the trash.
This option has been there for a very long time, lol !

I have just click on the "Close" button (see screenshot). I think it is

I currently use a desktop computer. I have tested this problem on a laptop with
the desktop CD (with the same usb key) and it still does not work.
It works on dapper, edgy and every other systems.

When I plug in my usb key, it not mounted automaticaly. The little LED
on the usb key winks (or blinks, I don't know how I have to says), but
nothing else.
What is strange is that everything seems to works fine for my usb
external hard
I have forgotten to says that I use Kubuntu, I don't know if it is the
reason why I didn't find any gnome-volume-manager.

Hi everybody,
This bug has been present since dapper at least.
When I use the live CD to install Kubuntu (there is not this behavior
with Ubuntu nor gparted !), only two (I've got three) of my hard drives
are detected by the partitionner. After
~$ LANG=C dpkg -l gnome-volume-manager ubuntu-desktop | cat
No packages found matching gnome-volume-manager.
No packages found matching ubuntu-desktop.
I use Kubuntu, that's why there is no ubuntu-desktop.

I still run Dapper, but there's a long time since I have posted this bug
