I'm having similar problem on Intrepid. The burning of an ISO file
stopped after a short while (2 min). I've attached the debug output of
brasero.

Brasero and nautilus-cd-burner cannot burn 4G
I have very similar problem too. I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with the latest
updates (update to 20/02/2009).
My uname -a output:

Binary package hint: openssl
I was upgrading from 7.10. The libssl package failed to be upgrade but
everything else seemed to be working. After I rebooted my system, the
crash report icon appeared. That was how I got to this page to report
the bug.
