I have very similar problem too. I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with the latest
updates (update to 20/02/2009).

My uname -a output:
Linux i6000 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:24:39 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

My kern.log line:
