I have a very similar laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M1439G) - same problems
including non detection exactly as FriedChicken described it and the nvidia
driver incompatibility. Thanks to Zeppe, who put me on the right track, I have
gotten the trackpad working. Essentially after using his InputDe
alex.bb's method may work well in feisty, but I need this to work in
gutsy... has anyone gotten this working in gutsy yet? I've been trying
since yesterday and have probably made a huge mess of the system in the
process :-(

The solution involves recompiling the module, which stopped working for
the LT-20 after a patch introduced into the 2.6.19 tree. The patch I'm
assuming fixed some issue with other devices which use the same driver,
so be careful.
To get it to work I did the following:

hello schlafly,
to change to the directory, type:
cd /usr/src/modules
then, to create the file, type
sudo gedit Makefile
and enter into the file the 5 lines you quoted above beginning with the
"obj-m" stuff. Save the file and exit, then type
make
and it should work!

Confirmed on Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768) - after resume from hibernation fan
does Nothing - (and network manager crashes and takes 100% CPU, which
causes my computer to quickly overheat and turn itself off). This is
Gutsy final.

Confimed here as well: same laptop - same problem. Haven't tried
disconnecting the AC power cord yet though, thanks for the tip. It took
me a few days to figure out why my computer was just turning itself of
Deigo, please don't close this bug - I'm running Gutsy 32 on the same Lenovo
3000 N100 0768 and have the same problem - after resume from hibernate the fan
doesn't work and the computer quickly overheats and emergency powers down.
(and suspend doesn't work at all)
