Everything always worked for me (after some charge/discharge cycles
enough to create a battery profile...) but, after i've enabled laptop-
mode-tools something changed: I get some notifications about my battery
discharge but, after I get the critical warning notification the system
simply doesn't h
Same issue here: we're all on hardy heron amd64 and, after the last
update network-manager-openvpn is not able anymore to connect
to vpn servers just because of it's trying to call openssl-vulnkey
instead of openvpn-vulnkey...
The workaround by Markus obviusly worked but, as already said that can'
The other day I tried a debug as often suggested here and I found that g-p-m
was configured to trigger the "critical action" when 2 minutes was left but
g-p-m keeps on showing 5 minutes even when acpi tells that the battery
percentage is 0%
So I adjusted the thresholds to fit what I think is cor
I'm just using an unofficial package of nm-0.7-svn on my
feisty and I can say it's working very well even if it's not
the latest version from svn so, why not have the latest
networkmanager officially available for Feisty?
Moreover, it manages dial-up connection very well...

That package is for Edgy and I'm using it on feisty: it works
almost fine except for the fact that from time to time nm doesn't
wake up correctly after suspend/hibernate but a nm daemon restart
is usually enough to fix the situat

Same problem here: gnome-terminal, gdebi package installer (the terminal
window) shows strange fonts...seems to me as the fonts smoothing isn't working
properly: i've tried with different dpi settings and different fonts, but i can
see this issue only in those 2 apps.
My monitor is a laptop lcd
Ok, thanks to a suggestion from ubuntuforums i've solved my issue either with

Ok, after some days keeping eyes on it,
I can say that the issue is about the lid switch
management of the new hal package, in fact
if I suspend/resume by my Fn keys and then
I close the lid everything is working as expected.
Moreover, a couple of times my notebook suspended

Ok, I've just followed your instructions and everything
is working perfectly: i can adjust brightness either by
th Fn keys and the gnome-brightness-applet, moreover
gnome-power-manager now lets me set different brightness
for ac/battery.
Thank you all!

Uhmmm
I've just found that there's something wrong with
this patch: when my notebook resumes from suspend/hibernate
the backlight doesn't turn off anymore when the session expires :-(
so I'have to manually restart hal or gnome-power-manager...
Any suggestions?
Thank you again

Ok, I've tried all the packages available an the net
for feisty and I have had to go back with the ones
from upstream :-|
the latest 0.7 from cvs is not totally working, up to now;
the others often don't work properly (e.g. don't resume

I'm facing the same issue on a fresh installed Feisty server AMD64;
The machine is a brand new DELL PE 1440SC with 2 sata disks.
When i perform a shutdown md0 and md1 (/ and swap) fail to

Moreover, sometimes on start up I also have this issue:

Hi all,
I've got a Dell 500m running Feisty and brightness is working for me
but only through the Fn keys: brightness applet/g-p-m aren't able to
read/write the value in the bios.
So, I wonder if I follow the instructions from Huygens will I have
the brightness increased/decreased twice each time?
you tried if they solved the dial-up bug too?
(previous nm showed dial-up connections but, after connecting
it didn't inform dbus that a connection is available so the applications
stayed in off-line mode)
Cheers

I've got the same problem on a fresh installed server (6.10-amd64) with
courier-imap-ssl;
I followed your hint (I have only one occurrence of pam_foreground.so in
/etc/common-session) but nothing changedanyway everything seems working
fine even if authdaemond keeps on returning
