This is a kernel problem that affects Dell laptops. It has been fixed
upstream by Matthew Garrett. The issue is that some keys on a Dell
laptop do not produce a key down, key up sequence when the button is

I think I've figured it out. I'm running Edgy with all the most recent
updates.
In /usr/share/icons/hicolor you have an index file index.theme which
controls selection policy.
Search for 22x22/apps, and you'll see it's the only entry for 22x22 that
doesn't use "Type=Threshold".

The gconf can_suspend_to_* keys are dead - only can_hibernate and
can_suspend should exist in 2.16.x and 2.17.x releases.

Guys, I'm the upstream author. The reason g-p-m does not work with more
than one primary battery very well, is that I'm unable to test it. I'm a
poor student, with a inexpensive single battery notebook and so cannot
add the multi-battery code to the test-suite. I rely on people with
multiple batter
Can you open a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org please and I'll fix this on

Restarting HAL on package upgrade isn't such a smart operation in my
opinion. Does 2.18.x still suffer from this?

you guys were going to think about switching to pm-utils in feisty - so
we can get this sort of thing common upstream. mdz - have you looked at
the HAL suspend and hibernate failure reporting code from davidz?
