Actually there is no need to minimize the original Nautilus window to
reproduce this bug. All it takes is the Nautilus window loosing focus,

See that mako's OMX element is a bit smarter and decides to release a
few buffers before they are consumed later on. This breaks the current

Stupid question, you already answered it in the bug report.
Another "fix" is going to the indicator and clicking on the correct
layout. Might be slightly faster than switching to one of the virtual

After a bit of more investigation, this actually seems to be a bug in
the way Mir is using the hwcomposer interface (not using the 2 layers,
and also with a different init/flags set).
The crash happens because it tries to use a pthread_mutex that is not
initialized. From our current investigation
Iain, we can only test the code with i386 and arm, because we don't have
android devices (4.2.2) with other archs.
We can try to enable it for other archs, but that will be useless at
this point.

Not a regression but something happened with latest Unity8 that made it
way easier to be reproduced. Just used latest image for a few minutes
and was able to reproduce the crash a few times already.
