Iam trying to install intrepid ibex 8.10 on my pc.But it fails to load.

When i start firefox, it freezes for a few seconds when loading some
site and the hard disk light glows as if its trying to search something
.It happens for about 10 seconds on average and it happens every single

I agree with corey.Update manager is a huge resource hog.In my office
with 50 systems,not a single one is updated ,because the systems dont
belong to the employee who uses it.
But almost each one of them updates their systems at home.Through the

have u noticed there is a new nvidia in repos called nvidia-glx-new
install that version and u are back to normal
U probably used the restricted drivers manager to install nvidia which
incidentally selects the older nvidia-glx thereby giving a kernel

iam unable to view any video cd's in feisty beta . Previously a vcd
would not mount at all .
DVD and data cd's mounted and worked fine .
With recent kernel update , the video cd is mounted but no
applications are able to play it

I have some more data for u folks .
On a fresh install of beta , the vcd was mounted properly .I could see
it under places in file browser
After the series of kernel changes , the vcd fails to mount properly .
The media players struggle to play it .
Absolutely no problem with other media types
Well a user has no way of knowing what the problem is .
As stated in the previous post that is a mozilla feature .
Anyways i just reported it thats all .

On installing beta feisty , there is no alacarte in accessories menu.
Right click on menu > edit menus crash .
Also custom launchers not showing in panel if icon not selected

I have the same problem with every single application which either requires a
save or something left to be finished before closing the application.
I am using dapper 64 bit LTS.
The occurance is 100 % , i.e every single time
