Summary :-
Login loop on GDM after installing nvidia drivers using ubuntu-drivers
autoinstall sript.
Hardware :- Nvidia GTX 1070 with a Intel Core i7 7700 HQ. HP OMEN 2017
Laptop.
Steps to reproduce :-
Simply install nvidia drivers using ubuntu-drivers autoinstall scrip
Fresh install with proprietary driver’s installation check box ticked
worked fine till I rebooted again and then I could not get into the
desktop. All drivers installed fine but one reboot later things were
back to being unable to login. So I did a chroot and removed splash from
grub command line f
This is a new observation, This did not happen before, The install is
however successful, and I can login fine. Hope this helps

Did a Fresh Install today, and Selected the option to automatically install
proprietary drivers, Something changed and my Installation Failed, I got a
message saying that there was already a bug for that, I followed along and

appreciate it, However I think it is worth a try. I think it is more of
Nvidia screwing with us rather than we creating problems for ourselves,

Update :- Downgrading to Kernel 3.19.8-031908-generic solves the problem for
me. Not sure what is wrong. Any of the 4.X Series Kernels won't work for me.
I am on a Lenovo Z50 Laptop. Now with Kernel 3.19.8-031908-generic my system is
working great. No error whatsoever. Hope this helps.

Update :- After using Kernel 3.19 for a while I received a Kernel Update to
Kernel 4.2 Now I am running kernel 4.2.0-18-generic
Now everything seems to work. I have the same hardware as Benedikt . Lenovo
z50-70 Laptop. I am running Ubuntu 15.10. I have had no success with Kernel 4.3.

I am having to go back to 14.04 now. I was really hoping that this would
get fixed soon. I think this might have its presence in the 16.04 Cycle
as well. Consequently many people like myself would have to stay on

1) edit the file
/etc/default/grub
replace
GRUB_DEFAULT=0

I have my Secondary Disk mounted under /Data and I have videos and music
in the directory. none of my installed snaps can see this directory no
matter what. I think this bug should not be marked as fix released.

I installed ubuntu 22.04 and installed Jhora Snap and it worked fine.
Then I upgraded to 24.04 and it still works. I am not sure what is
