that \lv command works if gvim is started from the terminal either by
gvim test.tex
or
gvim Documents/test.tex

option video=radeonfb:1024x768
After upgrading from linux-image 2.6.24-7.12 to 2.6.24-
I suspect this fix will also fix Bug #201591
It is apparently not specific to radeonfb.
