Gosh, there are hundreds of people all over the Google world who've
asked for this. It's not nearly as complicated as you make it sound.
Surely this could be added to gconf-editor without giving anyone that
many gray hairs?

I have tested this workaround, and it does not work for x64 OS.
Having searched all the bugs listing the issues with the RTL8192E
driver, I discovered that no official bug has been setup for the Karmic
AMD64 OS. This is the closest thread I've found. I have found
workarounds, repairs, and ndiswr
I realize this is already confirmed. I can concur with all of the
reports above. It is happening on the latest kernel update AND it is
reporting the amount of free space that WILL BE left on the CD after the
burn.
