OK,
the reason for this bug is in the routines of the ddclient perl script that set
the default values for the options.
In this case the timeout for the ssl connection is set to 0 which gives the
above error on Gutsy.
I have not tested what is the effect of the other default values that are set
One of the reasons that the divx plugin doesn't work could be also that the
plugin writes the value:
enable-dvx=0
in the ~/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf file. (it suddenly did that on my pc and
it took me a while to figure it out because no option was shown in the config
dialog for enable/disable
I have fully updated Gutsy and i can confirm that ddclient doesn't work
with ssl (if ssl=no then everything is ok)

I am sorry but using the current PPA for Karmic
(https://launchpad.net/~openshot.developers/+archive/ppa) totally breaks the
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg and thus makes video play in any gstreamer player unusable
(including thumbnail creation of videos in nautilus).

This bug has been around from NSS' version 3.12.5 and i have been tracking it
on Gentoo too with no luck.
No workarounds using env variables help.
Anyway I wonder why the 3.12.6 version has been committed as an update without
testing it works in the first place...

As i had already said there is a shutdown script in the package "initscripts"
-> /etc/init.d/halt.
It takes its config options from /etc/default/halt and it controls what the
computer will do when shutting down - halt o

1. 'exo-preferred-applications' is part of XFCE4 and is installed
because by default Ubuntu installs 'xfce4-terminal' that depends on the

(in the 3 files: /usr/share/applications/exo-file-manager.desktop,
/usr/share/applications/exo-mail-reader.desktop ,
