I can confirm the issue. The groovy feature depends on the plugin
org.eclipse.jdt.core version "3.5.2.20100319-1100-e35-RELEASE", which
looks like a home made version (but it could also be an official "post
release" update). Perhaps upstream could be convinced to build against

wrapper will inject the galileo update site if (and only if) ~/.eclipse
does not exist. Old users will have to add it manually via the eclipse

Based on the information provided it looks like you are using eclipse
3.2.2, which is badly outdated. I recommend upgrading to eclipse 3.5.1
(which will require that you upgrade your system to Ubuntu Karmic/9.10).
If you upgrade, you may have to remove or rename your ~/.eclipse, as
older versio
As I forgot to mention the logs; for starters check
$workspace/.metadata/.log (where $workspace is your eclipse workspace)
and also look for files named "hs_err_pid.log" (where is a
number) in your home folder - they may not be there (they usually only
appear if the JVM crashes).

I believe that Tristan Tarrant is right and this is caused by a broken
xulrunner - see #531719 [ 1] for more information (and a ppa with a
possibly functional version of xulrunner).

According to the log, eclipse has loaded two different versions of
xulrunner libraries.
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.2/libxpcom.so
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.1.8/libxpcom.so
Please try with only one xulrunner installed (or try something like
eclipse -vmargs
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/usr/

@Rich: Your problem is that older versions of eclipse has extracted
shared libraries into your ~/.eclipse. This means eclipse will try to
use SWT from eclipse 3.4.1 or older which does not work with the current
xulrunner. Renaming or removing your ~/.eclipse should fix it, though we
