This seems to be a problem with gdm
I installed kdm on my gutsy machine and was then able to connect to a
remote (feisty) machine running gdm.
I have not yet been able to test whether I can connect from to a guty
machine using this setup.

I don't know whether this helps, but it seems to be a problem with the 7.10
remote login.
I set up 2 machines, 1 Feisty, and one Gutsy. The fiesty machine can login to
Gutsy and Feisty systems, but the Gutsy machine cannot connect to any remote
systems with XDMCP.
This happens with Ubuntu and X
I agree that this is an important feature, so its status shpuld reflect
that.
What is worrying is that the functionality has not been removed, but has
been broken!

If I move back to my original desktop (Ctrl+Alt+F7), then back to remote
login, then the remote session has crashed with a graphics error (Screen
0 is not DRI capable) - I put that down to my crappy video card!

Multiple multi-tabbed copies of Firefox running, loading mapping pages

It then vanished.

I haven't been able to get the staging driver to work.
It is odd that both drivers seem to be loaded in karmic.
Is there any way of successfully using an rt2870-based wireless card
under karmic?

I have the same problem with a D-Link DWA-140.
rt2870sta worked, rt2800usb doesn't. I can see a neighbour's ssid, but not mine
from network manager, and I am unable to connect.

It does look like that's true, although I also appear to have rt2870sta
being loaded from the staging directory, and I am unable to build the
latest rt2870sta on the latest karma
