I just built Inkscape 0.46 w/ AK's patch on Hardy and now Inkscape does
not import any PDFs. It doesn't crash, but I just get a message "Failed
to load the requested file ". It does this even on PDFs that a
clean 0.46 handles fine.

I just ran into this bug after installing Ubuntu Netbook Remix (9.04) on
my Eee PC 900A. I have an internal 4GB SDD that I mount as root (/) and
a 8GB SD card that I mount as /home.
Looks like there might be a way to trap the failure as fsck fails with
an 8. I'm going to experiment with catching 8
I should also add that my setup did not cause the same problem when
running Easy Peasy 1.0 (8.10 based). That booted just fine, no problems
with fsck.

Workaround:
1) Remove the package flashplugin-nonfree
2) Remove any libflashplayer.so located in ~/.mozilla/plugins/
3) Install an alternative Flash plugin (mozilla-plugin-gnash, swfdec-mozilla)

patch failed on my karmic installation with:

I updated my nvidia driver(s) as noted above and it seemed to work for a while
... then I discovered that if I left firefox running, it would lock up(!) - but
only after the power management would idle the display - worked OK if
screensaver running.

The problem may well have existed for a long time but the solution that
used to work, now doesn't. You used to be able to rmmod the thermal
module and the problem would stop. Thermal is no longer a module so that
doesn't work. I very much doubt the kernel people dictate what Ubuntu
builds into the
