i have a motion eye web cam: 05ca:183b Ricoh Co., Ltd
using the r5u870 driver
when i try to use cheese it displays only garbage (black white dots and
colored lines)
i'm on hardy with a 2.6.24-21 kernel.
the webcam works in ekiga xawtv and vlc (b
I have found to have the same issue on a sony vaio vgn-fz31s.
Upgrading to Jaunty did not help.
I can further confirm that bluetooth does work when either it is switched on
(hardware switch) at boot time or by issuing the command
sudo hciconfig hci0 reset
after having switched it on after boot.

I've got an Acer Aspire 5710z with 2.6.20-16 (32 bit) kernel with an HDA intel
audio card with a Realteck ID 268.
I succesfully got sound working compiling the 1.0.15rc3 ALSA driver but that
broke my Linuxant driver (v. 7.68 hsf) for my Conexant HDA modem reinstalling
both didn't work, uninstall
clarification:
with reinstalling both didn't work I meant: reinstalling(the modem driver) did
break both the sound and the modem.
Sorry, i'm not that good at english (I'm a german that lives in Italy :)

I can confirm this behavior. Upon starting VLC the brightness of my Acer Aspire
5710z goes down. I need to use the gnome applet to put it back up, it is
flickering the hole time while changing brightness though. Using the fn keys
does not work in this case..

the above apport was sent while gpe13 interrup was enabled and issue was
occurring (massive amount of interrupt, high cpu usage)

i tested the 4.17.0-rc4 from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.17-rc4/ and can confirm that
this is still an issue there
4.17.0-rc5 would not boot

I did some more research and found this kernel bug
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53071 which seems to descibe
exactly this issue. In that thread there is mentioned that a bios update might
fix the problem.
Thus I went hunting for an update for my model since the Software Update to
sorry i continued posting with information i thought might be relevant or
helpful without reloading the page and did not see the new comments.
I did now send the report as requested. How do i know when it is available in
the archives?

I dont't believe my laptop has a free fall sensor, didn't ever hear of such a
thing. How do I check?
It does have ExpressCache though.
My vague hypothesis is that it has something to do with the ODD but i don't
understand enough of this for being able to verify any of this without
instructions.
using precise right now. It got better but still using at least 70MB.. right
now at 118MB.. doing compiz --replace brought it to 84MB
will apport-collect as soon as it is at >100MB again

compiz consistently uses between 100-2000 MB
for example currently:

although I don't use 2 screens anymore since the laptop screen kinda
died so i don't know if this is really apllicable anymore..
