I'm sometimes having the same problem: totem uninterruptible eating 100% CPU

This is a very disturbing bug since tou cannot kill the process and neither

I can confirm this ugly behavior on my AMD64 machine (Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64): it

Any workaround?

It seem to me that a workaround is to enable the following options, in
preferences -> message filters:
- "Filter incoming messages"
- "Filter all messages"
- "Filter comments"
but, unfortunately, I don't know why...
However, amule is not crashing anymore.

Quite the same for me since I upgraded to 9.04 (with 8.10 worked perfectly) on
amd64 - ATI Radeon X300.
After launching torcs I start a race, I see the car on the grid, the countdown
begins, I can hear the sound but after that everything hangs: no
ctrl+alt+bkspace, no ctrl+alt-del, no ctrl+alt+f
I'm using 8.10 and the problem looks solved to me also.
Thanks

I opened bug "Gwibber in Oneiric is completely unusable" number #876840.
The bug description was deliberately vague.
