I have my home directory on an NFS server and I access my data using
automount and LDAP. Previously I have been using openSUSE 11.0 on my
workstation. Now I switched to a new workstation with installed ubuntu
(Jaunty, 64-bit version). I logged in into my account (via LDAP).

shown by the network indicator are tightly coupled (as they should be).

I have some new mostly positive findings about the boot failures
concerning my HP ZBook 15, the 1st generation (2013). Importantly, it
has the latest available BIOS installed: L70 Ver. 01.33 . (You may look
at my bug report #1312318 .)
1.) The issue affects also ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS.
2.) The issu

I am using "xubuntu" session. The installation is the standard xubuntu
one; I have the choice of either "xubuntu" session of "xfce" session.
The languague is slovak.
There is no GNOME session available on the login screen.

There is a machine P on S1 . It is the local machine from which I am
reporting this bug. It has a fresh clean installation of xubuntu 12.04

The operation

(issued again on P) is quick. Almost no noticeable delay.

I installed jmol as follows:
sudo apt-get install jmol
Then I tried to run it:
jmol
The program did not start and I got the messages

At the moment I can not examine the bug on the machine (the Fujitsu-
Siemens notebook) on which I originally reported it. Such testing would
require to install the new system on the machine's hard drive. Once I
can do the installation I will send the apport info. (Perhaps in few
weeks.)

I tried your script but it did not work for me. Of course I changed the paths
to match my login name konopka.
The script did not modify the brightness even when I run it directly from
command line (using sudo).
However, I was not surprised by it because there is no command for xse
I have just marked that the bug affects also me, although rather randomly.
The affected machine is HP ZBook 15 with ubuntu 13.10, 64-bit. I tried also the
sudo poweroff command but its effect is the same (reboot).
It is a dual boot machine with WIndows 7 as the second option. The only way how
