guest would begin consuming a lot of cpu and only a hard-reset would fix
it.

So far, no addon I've tried to add has worked, but the two I've tried
repeatedly are firebug and adblock. For fun, I just tried noscript,
flashblock, abine, and weatherfox. None worked, but the behavior was
always the same.
The progress bar shows it downloading and then switches to "Installing"
Creating a new profile worked. I noticed there was a lot of cruft from
old versions and when I started to look at cleaning it up, I just
created a new profile and stuff worked. Closing this.
