I justed updated to Jaunty then changed my desktop to Gnome and the
problem is actually worse. Without the patch the system basically goes
into a loop consuming all resources. I'm currently using an Intel 8500
Quad Core CPU and utilization goes to about 95% on all 4 cores. The

That's very poor and arrogant answer about not support these libraries
since many commercial third party applications rely on them whether they
are "ancient" or not. By not including the libraries or having some
package available for them you're basically telling users to fend for
themselves or sw

I'm also getting a kernel panic with the r8168 module on resume. The
solution was to add a file in /etc/pm/config.d/ with the following
contents:
SUSPEND_MODULES="r8168"
Now the system doesn't cause a kernel panic, but getting the module to

Success!!! I have been able to suspend/resume without a kernel panic and
have the interface working. I reconfigured my script in /etc/pm/sleep.d
to instead start|stop networking services using pm-utils hooks (see
attached). This along with the suspend_modules file fixed the problem.
I have a similar problem with an Nvidia GeForce GT 730 card and the
Nouveau drivers. On kernel 5.0.0-8 everything is normal with a quick
boot time and the correct resolution of 1920x1080, however on 5.0.0-11
the system is very slow to boot and 1024x768 is the only resolution I
have.

I don't have light-locker installed, using GDM3 instead, and just
upgraded to Bionic, but this bug appears to have reared it's ugly head
again. The solution however of changing IgnoreLid to true in UPower.conf
clears up the problem. Hats off to piotr-wroclaw for figuring this out.

My screen does lock when going to sleep, by I have gnome-screensaver
installed instead of xscreensaver. XFCE checks which screensaver you
have and calls that version prior to suspend for the lock screen. I have
this setup on my desktop and laptop, both work without issue.

alternatives and choose ossp-alsap as the option:

I had libgegl-0.4-0 from Otto's PPA that was claiming to be newer than
the version in Disco. I used Synaptic to force downgrade to the Disco
version, now everything works fine. It could be this or you have an old
version of libgegl in /usr/local/bin from another install.
