and now OpenOffice.org starts fine!

XAA acceleration does not fixes the problem for me... I know glxgears
isn't a performance test, but with XAA enabled I only get ~30+ FPS...

I looked at the source code, and that disabled dropdown is related to
the last check (in that window), "Always show a connected device if
possible".
If you uncheck "Always show a connected device if possible", that
dropdown gets enabled, so you can select the device you want.

Recently tested with precise alpha-2 and still got the same problem.
Sometimes even I have to do a "rmmod ftdi_sio usbserial", unplug and
