1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10 (for which I have an update available) with nvidia
proprietary driver 1.0.8762+2.6.15.11-3. The system is running on an Acer

X server crash when updating the system
https://launchpad.net/bugs/52948
I strongly agree with both Simone and alef13.
The question is: why I have to explain my parents that they have to uncheck
"offline mode" in Firefox to surf the web? After all, Ubuntu is Linux for human
beings! This is not going to be good marketing for a LTS version.
My take is defer the release
I think I have a similar issue, though I installed from scratch.
My setup:
- Ubuntu Feisty
- home partition retained from a previous dapper installation
- I have messed a bit with binary drivers for my Nvidia GeForce Go 5700. I
think I don't have any binary installed (maybe for my wireless card

An update on the subject: there seems to be a strange interaction
between kernel module usb-storage and usb-modeswitch software
(http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/#trouble see kernel related
issues).
The workaround that preserves the most features is adding the following
line to /etc/modpr
I have the same problem. Fresh Maverick install, user profile recovered
from a previous Karmic (or before, I can't remember) installation.
** Attachment added: "dmesg output"

Huawei E169
Clicked the commit button too soon.
I'm attaching usb_modeswitch log. The funny thing is that by default,
usb_modeswitch_dispatcher doesn't seem to be able to find my device (see first
part of the log). Then, if I try to re-run the script using the same argument,
it runs, but it doesn't switch
I forgot to mention that the same hardware was working fine on lucid-1.
Not tested on lucid, does not work on maverick.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks.
