X gets stuck after resuming from screensaver, after a log period of
inactivity (no keyb/mouse input), mostly after a night long. Ctrl+F2,

button, it shutdowns gracefully.

After having updated from Jaunty->Karmic, and having rebooted as
requested in order to complete the upgrade, i never get to GDM login,
nor X started, but boot process apparently stops early during init
phase. This is what i see on screen:

After network upgrade jaunty->karmic the symlink "boot->." in my boot partition
is gone.
So grub menu entries "/boot/kernel-2..." and /boot/initrd-2." are broken
and OS cannot start.
Expected behavior: being able to boot with default grub menu
I dunno what created that symlink in first place. As far as I remember I've
always seen it there and grub menu entries always had the "/boot" folder.
Also in my desktop that I use at work has the same setup. But of course I could
have wrong memories... :)

I downloaded the Ubuntu 20.04 iso and made a boot running from it. Everything
works normal. So I deduced that the problem is in updating third parties,
something broke the video driver.

The same here. Using Kubuntu 17.10 on a VirtualBox Machine. After
install virtualbox-guest-x11 only "black" screen is seen. If I use alt+

I confirm Frank comment. Opening and closing dash repeatedly makes
compiz mem usage go up. In my case is about 0.[2|3]MB per open/close.
I'm using radeon driver from git.
