hexter.desktop file says the command line should be:
jack-dssi-host hexter.so
However, ubuntu studio 12.04 beta (mar 12) doesn't have the dssi-host-
jack package. (when did it go missing?)

If I boot with network-manager disabled (in /etc/init mv network-

site) I tried building with qt4 and then qt5. I found that the QT5 build
had the same problem, but the qt4 build works as expected. I would
suggest that the build script be set to build with qt4.

It appears this trouble is not unique qjackctl, other applications have
had problems with systray when updating to QT5 as well. Maybe fixing QT5
would be a better course (or future course?)

Setting Qjackctl to "Enable system tray icon" does not display
Qjackctl's icon and the menu provided by qjackctl from systray is blank.
Further setting Qjackctl to "Start minimized to system tray" makes the
application unusable.
A reboot after Qjackctl to "Enable system tray

I installed both vlc and mixxx.
I can run a video on vlc, a youtube video and musescore all at the same time.
My musescore is the same (or works when set the same). Anyway all three run.
The audio from all three mix. SO far so good.
Now start mixxx... I already have jackdbus running and use jack
pulseaudio releasing a device because it is asked to do so, is not a
bug. That is, it seems pulseaudio is acting correctly, if an application
wants direct access to the audio device, Pulseaudio must give it up.

13.10, but on a fresh 14.04 install the qjackctl systray icon works as
expected. I am using the same version of qjackcontrol as the buggy
machine though it is 32bit not 64.

Booted old kernel (1.13.0-17), ran about 30 min with no problem. Booted
back to 1.13.0-18 and got same problem in about the same time it took to
fire up firefox. Second error report almost before cancelling the first.

handle jack running at -p16, but that is to be expected and some of the gs
apps fail at even higher latencies. Jack shows no xruns, but the audio
skips. Not a bug though, more of a misuse.

Ubuntu studio no longer uses GDM in any of it supported versions that I
know of the last LTS uses lightdm as does the current cycle.

Downloaded from the above link. Seems to run fine. The theme is just an
addition to the the selection of themes... there are about 10 to choose
from so that is a non-issue. The new dark theme is closer to what Ubuntu
Studio is using though. I don't have time (or the knowledge) To test
throughly.

The app
I didn't think I said that memory was consumed after the screen saver
has stopped. Just that the amount of swap used showed that something had
been pushed there at some time. The only thing different between two
runs was the screen saver. With the screen saver turned off over 12
hours top shows abo

Looks like I was wrong. It looks like it restarts every 10 minutes. The
only upward number I see is the pid. It does look like the memory use
goes up and stays there when the screen saver goes off.
