I notice that both the real upper right corner and the false upper right
corner have *working* 'add widget' icons (the yellow swirl)
It also seems that the lower resolution desktop, with the taskbar at the
bottom of it, is super imposed on a properly scaled one. This seems
confirmed: when I set C

Ok. If I watch, and pay attention, while changing the focus, I can see

Sorry. I was thinking 'mkfs.hfsplus' but wrote instead 'newfs_hfs'.
mkfs.hfsplus is definitely part of Ubuntu, at least as of Hardy:
$ dpkg -S mkfs.hfsplus
hfsprogs: /usr/share/man/man8/mkfs.hfsplus.8.gz
hfsprogs: /sbin/mkfs.hfsplus
$ lsb_release -rc
Release:8.04
Codename: h
$ dpkg -S fsck.hfsplus
hfsprogs: /usr/share/man/man8/fsck.hfsplus.8.gz
hfsprogs: /sbin/fsck.hfsplus
$ lsb_release -rc
Release:8.04
Codename: hardy
It segfaults like this:
# mount |grep sda5
/dev/sda5 on /home type hfsplus (rw,noexec,nodev,relatime)
# umount /dev/sda5
# fsck.h
Hmmm. The package 'reportbug' is reliant on an SMTP connection, which
is not common any more. A new version should have the option for HTTP-
POST or GET.
