Ok. The short answer is that I must build a new kernel in order to use the AFS client. The package openafs-client should then say as much.
The readme implies that there are binaries. That would be great: "The easiest The easiest way to get AFS modules is to install prebuilt modules. For example, if you are running kernel 2.4.27-2-686-smp, you might try: apt-get install openafs-modules-2.4.27-2-686-smp" However, apt-cache shows only the source package so again it is actually necessary to build custom kernel: # apt-cache search openafs-modules openafs-modules-source - AFS distributed filesystem kernel module source So for the short-term work-around: build a new kernel. -- openafs-client missing dependent kernel module openafs.o https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
