I got similar issue on HP Compaq 6820s with ATI X1350, even when i am switching
to console ctrl+alt+F1 i can see noise effect.
In xorg logs i had screen resolution 1440x900 and 55Hz, but on karmic i have
60Hz.

I've found a hack that will enable nvidia module to insert into kernel:
Uncomment this line:
#PATCH[1]="buildfix_kernel_4.3.patch"
in file /usr/src/nvidia-304-304.132/dkms.conf
then sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-304
In Ubuntu 16.04 it was uncommented, because there were some mtrr changes
in 4.3.0

You can downgrade libmutter package temporarily as a workaround:

On another machine with NV 7900 and KDE4 I haven't noticed any problems,

Unfortunately the GTK+ LAF is NOT fully compatible with default Metal LAF,
and in some cases may cause major application problems (including crashes and
data lost).
Even the new Nimbus LAF (included in Java 6 Update 10) is not set as default to

I have the exact same problem with checkgmail on 8.04. I also tried to purge
and reinstall - with no luck. it ran normal fast on 7.10

Just open nautilus and resize the columns.
They simply don't do what I expect them to do.
A behaviour like in OpenOffice Calc would be nice for instance: A
movement of the column's title border leads to a resize event. But

It is not relevant to intel. i tested it on two nvidia cards and one
ati. On ati I had more issues, but not releted to this bug.
