Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scim-pinyin
After experiencing a problem with my home partition getting completely
filled, all KDE applications crashed on startup with scim-pinyin
appearing in the backtrace. I noticed that my
~/.scim/pinyin/pinyin_phrase_index had a zero byte length. I removed
this file and restarted scim, the index was regenerated and everything
worked again.

It would be nice if scim-pinyin would do some sanity checking on its
files.

Ubuntu Release: 7.10
Architecture: amd64
scim-pinyin version: 0.5.91-0ubuntu12

** Affects: scim-pinyin (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
