Problem can also be reproduced with the current Ubuntu 9.04 Live CD. It
also happens with disabled Compiz and with different video cards. So it

only in the terminal. Doesn't matter which one. I tried gnome-terminal,
xterm, konsole. But I noticed two things which may be useful to track it

1. For me it only occurs in single-head mode. As soon as I start my

Sorry, I have to correct me: It's not "can reproduce the problem". It
must be "could reproduce the problem". I no longer use the Latitude D820
because of this bug so I'm not able to try out if it's still
reproducable with current kernels.

made things worse for me. When the CMOS clock is corrupted then my D820
was still able to boot but the hardware clock was no longer working and
