Just to keep you up-to-date: Some months ago I stopped using the Dell Latitude D820 because of this problem and moved back to a Dell Latitude D810 which was not affected. Now I got my hands on an D820 again, installed Edgy on it and did some hours of auto-reboots (My previous D820 did not survive this). No problems. I'm using the D820 for a month now and no problem did occur. I'm using BIOS Revision A04. My previous D820 had BIOS revision A01. Maybe Dell has fixed the problem in a newer revision.
For me (at least) the problem is solved. -- Ubuntu corrupts real time clock on some dell laptops https://launchpad.net/bugs/43745 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
