I have seen this bug on two laptops. On at least one of them (a ThinkPad
T60 with an Intel GMA950), I see this bug with totem-xine and gxine, but
not totem-gstreamer, vlc or mplayer. Two interesting things:

I still don't know how to reproduce the error, and I haven't been using

Tried to rebuild plymouth with tracing and got a bit more information.
Looks like it is "session->pseudoterminal_master_fd = posix_openpt
(O_RDWR | O_NOCTTY);" that fails in open_pseudoterminal function. The
statement returns -1 and errno is set to "No such file or directory".

Hello Teej I tried to test it but after I did the upgrade to Lucid all
my network interfaces were shutdown and I was not able to brig it up,
cause the kernel does not seem to recognize it. I'm using an older
kernel now, will still the info be valuable with an older kernel???...

Updating menu.lst solved the problem (and other bugs as well). Somehow
it didn't got updated when I upgraded.
As a side note, "sudo update-grub" does not overwrite menu.lst. I had to
delete it and then update-grub again to make it work. I don't know if
that is what update-grub is supposed to do.
After My upgrade to the latest Kernel this bugs does not appear anymore,
what should I do???...

In the Gnome volume control, channel mode must be set to 6ch. Maybe you
need to change volume levels a bit, before sound is actually played. I
did not test line in or mic. I used Ubuntu 9.04.

I have just upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04 beta 2.
Then I have run apt-get dist-upgrade to get all the newest packages.
All windows are created in the top left corner of the screen and are impossible
to move or resize.

I was going to try turning on visual effects, but then it turned out
that I had removed compiz while removing gnome and reinstalling ubuntu-
desktop.
So after installing compiz (compizconfig-settings-manager and its
dependencies), I selected Appearence from the System->Preferences menu,
clicked th

happens when trying to launch.

While upgrading to 10.04 beta2 (from 9.10), hal failed in some way and
made the system unresponsive requiring hard reboot. The action that
triggered it was clicking System -> Shut down (but not actually shutting
anything down, just menu). I don't know
reproduced in a clean 10.04 beta 1 machine
if i remove the /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts file when re-installing, it
changes from error to "added", but then it runs one more time, and run
all the way with "error" in front of every cert.

I get the same behavior here, but it happens very quickly (2-3 minutes
after I start using the pen) and without me doing anything like locking
the screen or removing the powercord. The tablet is practically
unusable.

just removed these two lines:

I'm not a developer take therefore what I say with a pinch of salt. I
doubt netbook-launcher actually crashes. Gdb says it the program exits
normally and no backtrace is available. Instead please look at attached
strace output where starting from row 2463 you will find the following

Installing the latest compat-wireless package (2010-05-27) solved the

Perhaps I should have mentioned this computer is equipped with the
infamous poulsbo graphics chip and before installing proper drivers I
did manage to see the menu system. It was unbearably slow but did work.
I'm not 100% sure what you mean about the 2D session. If it is
everything except what net
