I've tried this but it does not fix problem - the root in the menu.lst entry
for ubuntu is set to (hd0,1), which is, I think the correct settting for ibex
(my xp is on hd0,0).
If I select the xp entry in the grub screen it boots xp correctly. I could use
the xp system to edit /copy fi
Thanks for the info, I was waiting to update to Intrepid with the hopes
that the software will be able to recognize the hardware on the laptop.

Yuk, I just encountered this problem when doing an 'update' using
update manager - it works ok for some sites but then the transfer rate
goes to zero for others! I'm going through a BT Voyager 2500 11g router
via Talktalk broadband - not sure which the buggy router is Because
it's site specific,

There is something wrong in the constructor of OpenAL. strace says it
closed STDIN so mplayer ends up reading garbage from fd 0. Disable audio
output "openal" then everything works fine.

Without the patch, I get loud white noise (hissing) every time I start
tvtime, and have to quickly fiddle with the menu to get rid of that.
