Oops, sorry, managed to create this with firefox info.
Anyway, here's a related forum post indicating the many others that are
experiencing this:

This probably means the bug already exists in Launchpad, but if it does,
I couldn't find it.

I have just tried a complete remove and reinstall of the Ubuntu One client as
per the following FAQ:

Seems to have made no difference. Still see the same oauth_authenticate

I don't think this is simply a case of overloaded servers causing many
retries (I'm not sure I agree with your change of summary and
importance).
- In two days, not a single file of mine has been synchronized. Surely I
would get a successful auth (and a bit of bandwidth) once in two days?

Ah, when I returned to my machine today things have changed:
I now see directory structure synchronized but no files. I guess this
means that I'm now experiencing bug 573007. All the folders show the
locked/syncing emblem.
I have no idea if this is all related to the same root cause or not.

Many files seem to be beginning to sync now, looks like whatever
improvements have been made over the last day or so are working! I
probably can't provide much in the way of useful logs any more.
Anyone from the U1 team reading this, thanks for all the hard work!

I think there's a strong argument that the default max open files for

Same problem here on Lucid on an HP EliteBook 8530w. On resume the
screen is dimmed and to make things worse the brightness controls don't
function either (making it impossible to turn the brightness back up).
I've tried the solution mentioned in comment 31 & comment 38 but this
didn't help. brigh
