My main Windows 10 computer on VirtualBox 5.1.34 works fine.
I tried on my laptop:
host OS = Windows 10 Pro
VirtualBox: 5.2.8
Works fine with and without 3D acceleration. Full screen window, and
small window.
I tried on another desktop:
host OS = Lubuntu 18.04 daily
Computer = Intel Celeron N3
It's weird. I can no longer duplicate the screen corruption on my
Lubuntu 18.04 system now. No matter what settings I use, it always
works fine.

This looks like a duplicate of bug #1756630, which has been fixed with

I have a work around for Lubuntu Alternate installer 64 Bit fix (same

When the install was in progress on the good/at the point of failure on
the bad I did:
control-f2 to activate another terminal
chroot /target
apt
apt-cdrom
good 20180130: apt 1.6~alpha 7 (amd64)
bad 20180216 : apt 1.6~alpha 5 (amd64)
So yes, the version of apt/apt-cdrom is different.

18.04 daily installer fails missing kernel
To manage notifications about this bug
TLDR: try rebuilding the iso downgrading the four packages
/pool/main/a/apt/*.deb to 1.6~alpha 5?
Note: I pasted the info backwards...it's 1.6~alpha 5 that's the good
version.
As a test...I tried manually downgrading apt*.deb on-the fly:
I created a virtual machine with a second (empty) cdrom dr
Only one package needs to be downgraded for apt-cdrom to work again:
libapt-pkg5.0 to version: libapt-pkg5.0_1.6~alpha5

I tried 20180219.1 but that must before the rebuild as it still had
