I tested this and it works for me without any issues in Lucid updated as
of 2010-04/06.
I was able to start Rhythmbox, then copy a new song into my library
folder and then do a search for it in Rhythbox. It did take about 5
seconds for the song to appear but it was seen by Rhythmbox.
