720x480 (480p) and once in a blue moon it allows 1920x540 (1080i). My TV

Well, that didn't go too well. Got system freeze when the internal
display was disabled, nothing was shown on TV and couldn't access logs.
I will try to run X from the command line and redirect stdout and stderr
to flash drive and hope it gets synchronized before hard reboot.

Sometimes, when I shutdown or reboot the computer, GRUB is loading a
long time and kernel is reporting errors on filesystem and won't boot. I
have to boot LiveCD and run reiserfsck on partition. It replays some
"transid" and then I can normaly boot to Ubuntu.

Grub loads, but slowly, because filesystem is somehow corrupted, but is
readable. Kernel is loading slow too and kernel won't mount root fs
because of errors. I'll try to remove savedefaults and will let you know

It gives me error, that java was not found (it's directory is not in
PATH). But I have only one java installed (in
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.0.04 with java-6-sun symlink in the same
directory) and netbeans is configured to use this path as java home
directory. If I run java from that directory
It seems to me that this is not usplash bug. When I add change splash
option to nosplash I get text output, but when I add "vga=795" it shows
nothing. It could be framebuffer bug.

it doesn't even eject. I must restart my computer to eject that DVD I've got

After I inserted data DVD (not dvd video), i got "Can't mount device, invalid
mount parameter" message. So I've edited "udf,iso9660" in /etc/fstab to "auto".
Now if I insert any data DVD i get total system freeze.
Now, after today update, problem is solved.

I don't know why, but it's not working again after today system update.
HAL and kernel was updated during previous update. It worked after
reboot. Today kernel was updated and it's not working. Some issues
between HAL and kernel?

Now, it is 2.6.20-12-generic. It's working again, but there is another
kernel update pending, so I'll let you know, if it is working after
update.

Well, this is good solution for me. But what if there were 2 (or more) users of
one computer and first one would like to have it hidden but second one would
like to have it shown.
C'mon, would it really be that hard to make it configurable? To program one
submenu with one or two checkboxes is qu
