ok, it's possible that virtualbox is the problem, i've looked into the log
files and it seems that the notifications are sent correctly but somehow
supressed and not showing.
i shutdown my virtualbox and after that it works correctly...

i first upgraded my existing and perfectly running karmic amd64, then after
reboot nothing happens, i tried a bit and then decided to do a fresh install.
after the fresh install lucid restarts and nothing happens, only a blinking

after 5 (FIVE) fresh installs and one 9.10 install without any success
to boot into the new system i've seen that grub wasn't installed in the
correct MBR. i changed it to the HDD with the root partition and voila
it boots and everything just works fine.

always follow them BUT this thing with the miller-column-view is
reported by countless users on countless forums and in many bug reports

perhaps it is possible to integrate it in the indicator-sound-applet?
all applications which output sound has to be there, with a volume fader.
like in Windows 7/Vista... - NO, i don't want to be Ubuntu/Linux like
Windows but some parts of other OSs are good and should be used as
inspiration...
