Public bug reported:
To avoid the issue of forgetting about a minimised window on another
workspace, there should be warnings when you try to turn off the
computer while windows are still open.
Instead of 'The system will automatically shutdown after 60 seconds...', the

So far, I have only seen this bug in Firefox.
Sometimes Firefox appears above Unity Launcher and Unity Dash. I have
attached a screenshot of an example.

* Launch Firefox and open several windows and tabs.
* Kill Firefox to simulate

Also the desktop can cover Dash.
I have found 2 ways of stopping the bug once triggered:

This is not Unity specific. I've seen this bug in older releases of
Ubuntu with Compiz enabled. It would often happen (and still does
happen) in Firefox when many windows and tabs are open.
I notice that clicking on an empty part of the Unity Panel makes the
window jump into place. Alt+Click -ing
The keyboard layout selected in GDM is passed to the Gnome session but
changing the setting in Gnome does not feed back to GDM. So it's one-way
for keyboard layout preferences between Gnome and GDM.
Yes there is a work-around, but that doesn't make it any less annoying
for users who have not notic

Pedro, just to confirm, this bug still affects Natty. I first came
across this bug when I started work at the beginning of July. I had the
issue on my work machine which was set up by a colleague who uses an
International layout.

This was one of the first bugs I noticed when I started using Ubuntu
back in Gutsi about 3½ years ago. I've finally got round to reporting it
but it should be low priority because it doesn't make Ubuntu difficult
to use (just a little glitchy), and it can't be bothering people too
much as it seems
Thanks for the workaround Marius. I can now test Compiz plugins in the
Guest account.
BTW, it was never necessary to restart, re-logging in did the trick.
I also find that the 'Applications' and 'Files & Folders' launcher items
disappear. Super+A and Super+F also fail to bring up Dash. However,

So the current situation is that the same Live CD shows 2 very different

Oh good, then surely it's fix released.

major change to be backported in to Natty..."
I never suggested backporting. I didn't even mention Natty; I was
referring to Ubuntu in general.

It looks like a regression. Pulseaudio has been default since Hardy
(8.04). IIRC, I'm pretty sure that this worked for me in Hardy and
Jaunty (9.04). People are reporting that it does not work in Karmic

the latest release.

I can confirm this on Lucid.
On Natty, jackd does not crash on sleep (suspend-to-RAM). I just get
about 150 xruns.
I'm not sure whether there was any official fix for this, or whether it
now works for me due to some other reason.
I too will now be switching to Jack as my primary sound server. I
