@fig do you have the latest gnome-shell via ppa? Maybe only if you use
the newest gnome-shell and the modal setting it fixes the bug. :)
@Deepak
Did you check if the modal setting got updated? Just open gedit, type something
and close it. The dialog that pops up has to be moveable without moving
I'd like to try that fix and report back. :)

Oh damn I just notitced that the ppa version is 3.2.2.1 as well. :( (Not
Gnome-shell 3.4.)
So if the modal + 3.2.2.1 didn't fix it it's either an other problem or it just
doesn't work for you.
I can't recommend 3.4 as I don't know if it's really stable. Maybe
waiting for the next Linux Mint vers
No it wasn't. Above is a possible solution that the bug got fixed with
gnome 3.4 but that had nothing to do with the patch and is not working
for everyone.

That did not help. I don't know if I made a mistake but the even while testing
the command the shell crashed. ;)
I copy/paste the line, restarted the shell, opened gedit like in the screenshot
to test it and the dialog was not movable on its own.
I even tried the command with sudo but the window

Hi,
I tried the method Keith mentioned. It didn't fix anything, sadly. :( In fact
it was as same "crashy" as before. So I installed it all again and noticed less
crashes as estimablesir reported.
Today I had maybe 3 crahes within 5-6 hours before it would be around 10 (just

A few minutes back I had 2 crashes.
First was after clicking the "Menu", second was openening a terminal by
clicking it's quick lauchner in the panel-launcher applet (Cinnamon).

@luca_ing: Can you specify the graphics more? HD5700 is the family there
is no real card that has this name. There are 5730 (botebook only), 5750
and 5770.
@kede: The HD8750 does not exist (yet). The current generation is 7xxx.
So it's probably the 6750?

every time an icon is added and removed. If I have the MPlayer icon
active and open and close videos I can get a crash very fast. If it's
