Confirmed on Ubuntu 9.04 with Danish alu keyboard.
You can work around it by issuing the command:
xmodmap -e 'keycode 94=onehalf section' -e 'keycode 49=less greater backslash
brokenbar backslash brokenbar'

Same thing here, downloading a version from eclipses sites and running
seemed to work somewhat. I would really prefer to get one via apt-get,
and I would prefer not to build it myself.

I finally got stable Eclipse running... Had to
1. Download Eclipse from their website (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/)
2. Download and install Sun Java 64 bit
3. Point Eclipse to that JVM

I can confirm that netangel's workaround works with a danish aluminium
keyboard in 10.10.
