Same issue here. This is Ubuntu 8.04 (amd64) with Firefox v3.0.4
(Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US;). I moved the .mozilla dir
to a backup and let FF create a new profile. No extensions at all, as
expected. I let it search for DownThemAll, installed it and tested.

Same here. Running Jaunty 9.04 x64 on a xeon quad-core 16G ram. xsane
seems to find the scanner just fine - the Standard Options windows
titlebar calls it "Canoscan FB630U:003".
File->Info shows the following :

At totally random times the screen will lock up, right in the middle

OK - gnome-shell crashed again when unlocking after screen lock. I was
able to apport-cli the crash report, and that's in bug 1847140
