Same issue here. This is Ubuntu 8.04 (amd64) with Firefox v3.0.4 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US;). I moved the .mozilla dir to a backup and let FF create a new profile. No extensions at all, as expected. I let it search for DownThemAll, installed it and tested.
Same deal. It downloads just fine, then about 4 seconds after completion, the FF and DownThemAll windows gray out and FF hangs.
