If I set the proxy in gnome and start pidgin, the window appears, but it
hangs immediately (only kill -9 gets rid of it).
Pidgin works fine without proxy (on open networks). This behaviour is
new and on Hardy it worked fine.

1220SA card plugged in fails at formatting the disk partitions. It does

I'm trying to configure a Canon MPC200 printer on the Laptop of a friend
(runnin Dapper).
It is not auto-detected by cups, nor does it offer a selection of the
USB port (so I can try some drivers against it).
Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'cups
Is it possible to pull the update for the time being?
I had to make an emergency call to a friend for whom I installed Ubuntu
(she's not technical) and I caught her minutes away from installing this
update.
Since this seems a very severe problem, it seems prudent to pull the

lsmod says that usblp isn't loaded. I tried loading it and I get these

because XP kept crashing on her machine). I would never buy a Canon
myself (I only buy Linux supported hardware).

I'm guessing this isn't a cyps bug as the association between the usblp
driver and the USB ID of the printer is done on a much lower level (so
the printer never comes available to cups).
Maybe this report should be reassigned to the kernel of udev packages?

I'm using a temporary fix on Dapper
in the nscd init script, I copy nsswitch.conf.ldap before starting nscd and put
nsswitch.conf.default back when stopping.
This does not work on Edgy because nscd seems to be started before the
network is available (circular dependency).

Shortly after the release of Gutsy, a security update was released for
gnome-screensaver when used with compiz.
After this update, I have problems unlocking my screen when a second
user is logged in. When I switch back to my login, it
guys, please read the follow up to that article. Ubuntu only changes this
setting when laptop_mode is on, which it isn't by default.
If laptop mode is off, but it is cycling that often, then it is caused by the
default setting in your BIOS

This bug has been biting people sinds Dapper. And it's not only

The problem returned after installing 2.6.20-16, this is the same
machine as before.
It's very annoying, the boot process stops on a blank screen and I have
to CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to the message where I can press enter to boot
furhter.

Plymouth is showing at boot (though in 640x480 mode), but at shutdown I
only see a purple bar at the bottom of the screen, the rest is black and

I'm having trouble reproducing the crash, though I now only get black screens
for video feeds over empathy instead of crashes.
This new problem is also not consitent, so video will work about 50% of the
time.
