Public bug reported:

I'm using LDAP for user accounts and kerberos5 for authentication. This works
well as long as the network is up.
One of the machines is a laptop however, it has both local users and LDAP
users. When the LDAP server is not reachable, the laptop mostly fails to boot
up, hanging at each retry on other services.

This makes Ubuntu very hard to integrate in a corporate or even
elaborate SOHO environment where there is a real need for network
authenticated users.

Packages affected would be libnss-ldap, nscd and nss in general.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
