I have a desktop and a laptop, both 64-bit, using thunderbird. I have
what seems like the same problem (get segfault) but only on the desktop
machine. I have copied the profile from the laptop to the desktop with
no apparent help.

I am using the last ubuntu now and it dosent seem to behave the same

got a lot of errors and most likely is not needed.
I then did:
sudo make install
At the end of that I heard a pop from my speakers.
I rebooted into 2.6.27-11 and I had working sound.

loading the applet, not even checked if it's initialized or not.

however it ignores the journalling (ie. it treats a hfs+ partition as
hfs). I have a feeling that Feisty removed the hfs functionality because

I can confirm this, indeed when I've upgraded to Edgy (i many workstations) in
some of it i have this problem. All have the same Keyboard (Genius KB-21e

you need to generate the .debs for Edgy that's the only way).

I have lost all sound now. I'm unsure what happened. It seemed to happen
between reboots so it's possible a patch caused it. I'm debating between
doing a full install of 10.04 alpha 3 in a few days or installing 9.10
in my alt boot partition and then slowly adding patches up to current.

Hi Daniel, thanks for the reply! I am attaching the prevboot.txt file.
This time the freeze happened while the machine was locked and I was
away, when I came back the screen was black and mouse and keyboard
weren't working. I can't pinpoint exactly when it froze, but looking at
the logs I believe
I tried uninstalling the extensions and reinstalling gnome-shell, but it
froze again today.
I am attaching a new journalctl file, this time I booted in recovery
mode to get the file so judging by the log timestamp it matches the time
when it froze, so this one should be more precise.

This would explain how my notes show version 3.10.5 . . . wheras 3.10.2
worked for me.
