I would also appreciate a disconnect option in the left-click menu of
the applet. It's not always wanted to be connect to both wired and
wireless network. Currently the only way I see to disconnect from a
network is to disable networking in the applet.

I can confirm this bug on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo PA1510 laptop.
Whenever pressing Fn+F5 or Fn+F6 for changing volume, the system freezes as
described by almatt.
I checked the keybindings and they are ok (XF86AudioRaiseVolume and
XF86AudioLowerVolume). Also checked /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/vol
yeah, that would be ok for me

I'll try the Lucid kernel as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I found a fix that works for kernels < 2.6.32:
create a file /etc/modprobe.d/ath5k.conf and add:
"options ath5k nohwcrypt=1"
this seems to fix my issues.

I'm still having the problem either. I tested with latest upstream kernel and
upgraded my distro to the latest version, but the problem persists.
I also tried other distros (latest Debian snapshot and Fedora 11), where I'm
_not_ experiencing similar problems.

Public bug reported:
After upgrading to kernel 2.6.31-11-generic i can't connect to wireless
networks with my atheros card AR2413 any more.
/var/log/syslog shows that the connection starts to hang when trying to get an
IP address with DHCP. Wireless connection worked just fine with kernel

this really seems to be an ubuntu issue, since with latest fedora 12
alpha (which also uses kernel 2.6.31) there is no problem and wireless
connect immediately
