This prevents my GSM modem from working.
ppd connects (got ip and DNS) and after a while NetworkManager kill
everything saying

Well, after some days of work on the machine, I can say that at least jaunty
alpha6 is stable (with all updates installed) IF keeping the 2.6.28-9 kernel
running (I have modified the default target in grub menu.lst, just to be sure).
As of today, on the same system, starting with 2.6.28-11 leads

but it NEEDS to be something related also to HW configuration.
Tried today again with 2.6.28-11 and got EXACTLY same behaviour as god-
mok. I was really lucky to recover filesystem and get back here. AGAIN:

Just to bump. Problem is still here. 2.6.28-9 is stable, 2.6.28-11 is
unusable on this hardware. As all hardware is currently working, I have

appearing and disappearing. No logs in either logfile in /var/log or

Chris, seems that You have correctly tracked down the problem. Removing
Plymouth fixes the problem for me. I am +1 to mark this bug as duplicate
of bug #522692 with different symptoms.

I was not able to reproduce any warning in compiling wpng.c using gcc
4.4.1-3ubuntu3 on karmic x86_64.
The fail line reported is:

Following #48, I managed to use indicator-applet removing configuration file
~/.config/autostart/gnome-power-manager.desktop and launching
indicator-applet-complete.
And I confirm as androith that the behaviour is shown only using
gnome-power-manager applet not integrated into indicator-applet.
Tried previous, but did not work for me. Indicator applet do not show
any battery indicator. How to enable battery status display in indicator
applet? I have only volume and e-mail (unused as I prefer mozilla
thunderbird).
